Youth Common Measure: Literacy/Numeracy Gains - A Technical Viewpoint (Presentation Slides Zip File)
States and local workforce investment areas continue to face issues with the technical (collecting data and reporting outcomes) and programmatic (e.g., policies, program implications, service delivery) aspects of the Youth Common Measure: Literacy/Numeracy Gains. Following a nationwide survey, specific areas of concern and technical assistance needs were determined. In response to these findings, the Employment and Training Administration (ETA), along with Mathematica Policy Research, Inc. (MPR) and Social Policy Research Associates (SPRA), developed two Webinars for this Youth Common Measure. One Webinar will address the technical facet of the measure, including: reporting specifications, software issues, State MIS system, and reporting methodology.
Another Webinar will address the programmatic facet of the measure, including: policies, program implications, service delivery designs, and the measure itself. Each Webinar will be presented twice to allow for maximum participation. A Question and Answer period will also be provided during each Webinar. The Technical Webinar will be conducted on July 23, 2008 and repeated on August 27, 2008. These sessions will be presented jointly by ETA and MPR. The Programmatic Webinar will be held on August 5, 2008 and repeated on September 4, 2008, and will be presented jointly by ETA and SPRA.

Partnering with CareerVoyages.gov (Presentation Slides Zip File)
With a focus on disseminating products and resources, the Employment and Training Administration would like to ensure that CareerVoyages.gov, now in its fourth year, is fully utilized by the state and local workforce investment system. The purpose of this Webinar is to increase awareness and greater understanding of the Web site among select states, and gather feedback regarding how this site can be used by, and in conjunction with, state (and local) career exploration programs. Link exchange is the most basic way to partner but Web services and collaboration on content will be the primary focus of this discussion. Examples of industry partnerships will be provided as a model as well as the current partnership with New York State Department of Labor and the NYCareerzone.org Web site.

Driving Transformation Series: The PIT Crew Mentor-Learner Exchange (PPT)
Through this peer-to-peer relationship, workforce practitioners learn from one another and replicate effective strategies and models across the system, furthering positive change and innovation in important transformation areas.
The process starts with a match meeting in October 2008, followed by site visits, conference calls and other technical assistance related to the teams' specific challenges. During this introductory Webinar, participants will be guided through the "Expression of Interest" process which includes developing a team profile and submitting an application by August 29, 2008.
Later at the October 2008 meeting, using a "speed-dating" process based on a team profile analysis, learners can determine their best "e3-Harmony" match.
Please note: After you have registered for the Webinar, please also look for background material about PIT Crew at this Web Page:
